Hello! Thus is the discussion page. Thought it'd be useful to have something of the sort. Just enter your comments or suggestions, but for new entries always use the headline feature ('== Headline =='). New entries must always be appended at the end of the page. Heya guys,

Since the MediaWiki's discussion capabilities are limited at best, what would you think if I installed a basic and simple BB system next to it? And, if so, any suggestions as to which BB? 195.212.199.56 14:35, 13 September 2006 (CEST)
Categories
Please remember about adding proper category for new articles(I'm not without fault here), as it allows much easier cataloging of similar articles.--Torn 17:56, 3 September 2006 (CEST)

: Sorry about that Torn!!...
::Hehe, You don't have to. Categories are only for the readers' convinience, they aren't some kind of "Wiki-law".;) And even if the were, I'm in no position to enforce them. :P --Torn 14:39, 4 September 2006 (CEST)
:::I always forget to add the categories in the initial article and have to edit it again, but I think it's quite important to have them. -- Prodatron 19:11, 4 September 2006 (CEST)
Please put every article, which is not finished and contains text like "please add more infos here" or something like this, into the category "Stub", so that other people, who may know more, can find these articles and extend them. The problem is, that not all "short pages" are such stubs, and so it would be difficult to find unfinished articles without the category. -- Prodatron 17:52, 5 September 2006 (CEST)
Multi lingual
Maybe we should introduce a category for each contry... so that every article is member of a cataory where there are information in a given language! What do you think?
: Some time ago we decided not to introduce multi lingual support, as this would split up our forces too much. So only english articles should be accepted. Even with only one language there is still too much to do ;-) -- Prodatron 20:20, 7 September 2006 (CEST)

: I'm really not sure about this; the wiki is not supposed to be a file server for all things CPC. Manuals and hard-to-find stuff are welcome, but a contemporary fanzine? I don't think so, really... Since it's hosted elsewhere anyway! 89.210.45.22 17:41, 12 September 2006 (CEST)
:: in my opinion the WIKI ist the Chance to also get a hughe Source for Files, Fanzines, Documents, Demos and Stuff. One of the reasons why you have got "unlimited" WebSpace with a capacity of totally 100 GB is, that you shall allow users to upload everything they want, as long as it is within the law.. cause i think its the best way to post informations about something WITH the files together.. What about a Demo from Prodatron with the ability to download it as DSK without searching the web.. what about reading about CPC-Forever and the ability to download the whole shit.. Thats the thing i am dreaming about.. a full "information-portal" for every CPC-Think.. not only a Wiki with text-informations.. If my dreams doesnt confirm with yours.. maybe you should tell me :-)
Regs.. Kangaroo
::: I agree completely with Kangaroo.. This is the chance for creating a completly new "thing" for the CPC.. Much more coherent than anthing currently existing! --Ygdrazil 09:55, 13 September 2006 (CEST)
::::Same for me, too. I think it is a great idea (and I already talked with Kanga and Tolkin about that on the Xzentrix meeting). Only one thing gives me a headache: the backup. It should be possible to do a backup from the outside of the Wiki, because I never want to see something like Amstrad.dk or LIP6 again. People put so much work in this wiki and so we should think about something like on Wikipedia: Database Download We talked about a simple script which creates a SQL dump and stores the uploaded data (maybe run weekly) --Octoate 12:01, 13 September 2006 (CEST)
::::I both agree and disagreem so let's keep this discussion going :) It's one thing hosting some rare file, and another something of a wide circulation. Also, it's one thing hosting a more or less rare dsk (which cannot be found on the online archives), which is a few tens of kb big, and another thing hosting a PDF of several megabytes.. I was going to say that we could perhaps host interesting video files, but then again Google Video does that so much better...

:::: Then again it's the issue of archiving. Right now Kangaroo's interface allows me to back the whole thing up, package it and download it (I think). Which is ok for a few megabytes, but can you really handle it if it gets out of hand? Already it's getting pretty big with all the files that have been uploaded... So, although I think that indeed the chance of creating a completely new "thing", as Ygdrazil put it, is exciting, we _must_ use some common sense about the files we can use. Otherwise it may become a cancerous "thing", growing out of all proportion and becoming... what? The CPC ueber-archive? Shall we decide to mirror all the DSK archives out there?

:::: Ok, maybe that could be the case. But we need to agree on it first instead of it becoming a fact on its own. And then, where do we stop? Will we also become a new GameBase, duplicating the Zone's content?

::::Just give your thoughts... By the way, I'm agiant rying to fix the upload problems. But I CAN'T GET IT TO WORK, FOR THE LIFE OF IT!!! ARGHHHHHH!!! 195.212.199.56 14:03, 13 September 2006 (CEST)
